(not your average) wedding officiant

Howzit, I’m Michael, but my friends call me “Coach.”

First and foremost, I’m a dad and family man. Second, I’m a storyteller, author and speaker. But I’m also a water lover, mountain bike rider and rabble-rousing green guy. We have eleven core values in our little tribe. The first three are LOVE, FAMILY and NATURE. Wyoming weddings celebrate all three of these elements in grand style.

My roots run deep here in Wyoming, Idaho and Montana with multiple generations of family history in the Cowboy State (Wyoming). After graduating from the University of Montana with a BA in Environmental Studies I continued my work as a ranger naturalist and bear education ranger in Yellowstone National Park. I also worked as a fly-fishing guide on the sacred waters of Southwest Montana (we are Norman McClean disciples in our family as we’re all haunted by waters). It was during my ranger days in Yellowstone that I received the nickname the “Rev” short for “Reverend” for the wilderness sermons I’d share throughout the park.

Over the course of the last decade I’ve had the opportunity to speak from coast to coast and all throughout the Northern Rockies at book readings, keynotes, conferences and nonprofit events and rallies. I’ve worked as a nonprofit director and founder, high school basketball coach, and small business manager, but it’s officiating weddings that really fuels my stoke (that and single-track—on my Thunderbolt). I officiated my first wedding in 2009 at Riverside State Park in Spokane, Washington.

Since then I’ve had the honor of connecting with couples and officiating weddings in the enchanted Redwoods of Northern California, the majestic Rocky Mountain Front outside of Glacier National Park, and all throughout the Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem.

I’ve got the best job in the world. I get to share the most important day of most people’s lives in awe-inspiring places in the presence of deep and burning love. What could possibly be more meaningful?”

While Jackson Hole Wyoming, Bozeman (Big Sky and Paradise Valley), Montana, and Victor/Driggs, Idaho, represent my home turf for officiating, I’ve got a truck, a Prius and flight benefits, so no location is too steep or deep. Whether it’s a local wedding or remote destination, I simply love the adventure of this entire process. If you’re looking for someone to share your special day with, give me a shout, I’d love to talk story and learn more about you as individuals and as a couple.

I want to hear from you—not about you.

With nothin’ but love, MWL
